Getting back into Chinese after years of little study/usage

I'd like to hear from those of you who went through a period of intensive Chinese study, but then got away from it for several years, and then got back into it. How did you go about this? I reached a pretty high level of Chinese back in my late 20s and early 30s, but I'm now pushing 40 and have done next to nothing over the past 7 or 8 years. I've used the occasional podcast (ChinesePod, Popup Chinese), but not extensively. Life always seems to get in the way. I'm thinking of listening to the SBS Mandarin station (broadcast from Australia), but I've regressed enough that it may not be the best idea.

I'm not in a position to take classes or hire a tutor. This will need to be an on my own sorta deal. But I feel a bit overwhelmed. I'm not sure where to start.
