Describing Order of events?

For school I have to do a project in Chinese where I describe the ingredients and the recipe of a dish. How do you express the order of a recipe like "first I did this, then I did this, and finally I did this"?

Also, for ingredients, if you are just listing them off, what would you use to link the final ingredient? I think I remember my Chinese teacher saying "和" isn't the same as using "and" in a list like in English. If it isn't, what is the correct word I can use? Thank you.
