Unethical Immersion Tip(?)

Unethical may be a bit strong, but for the past few months I've been teaching English to kids online (short, basic 25 min lessons), and I find it helps them to speak Chinese when they really don't understand something. What has started happening by now is that the classes are more Chinese than English, because I've taken it as a chance to practice my speaking and my listening, while still teaching them - I am somewhat conflicted; The company generally prefers teachers to speak English as much as possible, and only use chinese where necessary, but I don't think thats the best teaching method as the kids clearly misunderstand, so my (limited) chinese helps them, but I don't know where the line is, because theyre always much more responsive to Chinese too. Has anyone else tried this? Or has any opinions?
