Should I speak with a Beijing accent or not?

I began learning Mandarin with an audio course that would teach words with a Beijing accent, such as 哪儿。

The tools I am using now such as ChineseSkill will pronounce words as 哪里。

I think it makes sense to pick an accent as opposed to switch between them so I was wondering which is a better accent to go with?

What I will say is when I do go to China, I’m always south of Shanghai.
