Is this supposed to be an insult?

So while I understand Chinese language, I don't know much about the culture.

When I play games on Chinese servers, a common insult I see is nmsl or similar shit like 全家必死,全家爆炸, 死妈东西 or some other stuff that are related to family like 孤儿

I actually feel nothing about this, I mean the insults aren't even targeted at myself, am I supposed to be feeling something when they say something that is straight out just isn't true or something that has no chance of happening, or even the orphan insult, is this supposed to be an insult? What exactly is wrong with an orphan? Not like they chose to be one to be discriminated.

While other insults targeted at you personally are the same whether in China or West, I have never seen what they consider "insults" about the family and stuff when playing with English speaking people.

Truthfully speaking, I find it kinda funny they expect me to get triggered by something that can't even be consider insults, they're just unrealistic hypothetical situations, even if by any chance they're true, so your mom or whoever is dead, so what? I mean lots of people out there with a passed away mother, but are they any different from your average joe? No they aren't, so how exactly is this an insult?

Help me understand whats going on in their minds to consider stuff like this insults
