Hey there everyone! I am a teen born and raised in Canada by my two Chinese parents. I can speak conversational mandarin and can understand most of the main ideas in Chinese youtube videos/television, however sometimes it gets difficult to understand when they use more complex words outside of my vocabulary. Speaking Chinese comes naturally to me because I use it regularly at home with my parents, I can express most of my ideas easily but sometimes I come across a word that I don’t know.
However, I can’t read or write Chinese and I’d like to learn how. Maybe just get some basic foundations down, like to the point where if I were to travel alone in China I’d be okay. I’d also like to expand my vocabulary so I can start to understand more complex sentences and be more confident in my speaking.
Are there any good resources you can recommend? Preferably textbooks and workbooks because I seem to learn best using those, maybe videos too. I’m planning on casually studying during my free time.
Thanks everyone!
