Different readings for the same symbol as in Japanese?

I come to Chinese from Japanese and for the hanzi (kanji), there are alternate readings for the same character. I was kind of hoping Chinese would not have this, as it's hard enough to learn new characters with a single reading and meaning, much less multiple readings and multiple meanings. Does Chinese have multiple readings?

P.S.: Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!
