Self studying traditional Chinese?

I've done four years of Chinese in high school and my reading level is that I've read several stories in tales and traditions volume 1 without trouble or needing to check the dictionary much. I plan to take middlebury language over summer and I want to place into intermediate but I need to learn traditional. I plan to get the textbooks they use for beginner and go through it but what should I do to work on my listening comprehension (I have a Chinese roommate who's willing to help me with speaking) and how do I learn traditional from only knowing simplified?
