Issues with speaking/confidence!

大家好!

Bit of background: I have been (self-led) learning Chinese on-and-off for a while now (HSK 1.5ish).

As the new academic year started I managed to sign up for a basic Mandarin course (HSK 1), and although I am already confident with the material, I have found that I am absolutely terrified and unable to actually say anything. My brain (hopefully) knows the pronounciation/tones/etc. but I get horrifically shaky at the thought of saying 你好 to our instructor, let alone having a conversation with any of my Chinese friends.

Although I guess this is more of a psychological issue than a Chinese-language one, I wonder if anyone else has felt the same way, and if/how they overcame it?
