Okay this sentence with the 把 particle is throwing me for a loop.

Still trying to grasp the the 把 particle. Saw this sentence, and while I understand the meaning, I can't figure out how to deconstruct the grammar with the 把 usage. Maybe you can help clarify?

你吃蛋糕把肚子吃壞了.

So basically, "You upset your stomach by eating that cake". From what I'm told the 把 particle is supposed to highlight the disposal or impact upon the object (what?) with the result of the disposal or impact indicated by the element following the verb (hunh?)

The best I can try to rationalize is "You eat cake take stomach eat bad". And I'm guessing the 了 used there is the "updating you on the latest information" 了.

Well, am I close in deconstructing correctly?
