Self-Study Plan Questions (Traditional)

Hey there, so I plan on going to Taiwan in 3-6 months to study Mandarin part-time for about a year. In the meantime, I've been trying to self-study in my free time, about 30-60 minutes a day, and been consistent for a couple weeks now.

I've been solely using the HelloChinese app which is wonderful. Meanwhile, I figured I'd download Anki to memorize/solidify all the characters I encounter as I move the app as a nice supplement, and I found this deck of the 6,000 most frequent Traditional characters. I just suspended the whole deck and then was unsuspending the characters I came across. But then I was doing some searching/reading here and most people recommended against trying to memorize the characters individually versus going for the full words, contexts, etc. first. With that said,

  • Does anyone have a good Anki Deck in Traditional to use? I'm guessing it would be just as fine to learn words/sentences outside the HelloChinese app to expand my vocab quicker?
  • Is there anything else in general I should be thinking about supplementing with?
