Questions about Taiwanese Mandarin & studying in Taiwan

Hey there!

I posted here a few days ago asking about character amnesia. In essence, I have not yet started my journey in learning Chinese but right now for the next few weeks I'm trying to learn how to study Chinese. Right now I am trying to have a feel for the best way to learn as effectively and quickly as possible, while currently practicing Chinese pronunciations and corresponding pinyin sounds. Anyway I'm back to ask a bit more...

After I graduate next year I'm planning on spending a decent amount of time (maybe a year or two?) in a Chinese-speaking location in order to learn Chinese. The reason why I want to learn is because I would eventually enjoy doing some humanitarian work in China many years from now. As opposed to the mainland, I'd rather live in Taiwan because standard of living is quite higher and the freedoms in Taiwan that you don't get in mainland China are definitely a plus. I've done some searching around about the dialectal differences between Mandarin as spoken in the mainland (hereinafter Putonghua) versus Taiwanese Mandarin (hereinafter Guoyu) so I'm not here to ask that. But instead...

  1. Do mainlanders look down upon Guoyu dialect people? And if this is the case, is it easy to learn the Putonghua dialectal features after reaching fluency in Guoyu and how would one go about doing so?
  2. (Next three are not related to Chinese language learning; might x-post to /r/Taiwan) Currently, I am studying computer science. Once I graduate and I do not get a remote job or any revenue streams, it is likely I will become an English teacher. I heard if you look East Asian (I'm Korean), it will be much harder to get a job doing such. Is this the case or is it an overblown concern?
  3. I heard Taipei has many English speakers. If this is the case, would it be best to live and teach instead in Kaohsiung or another city instead to place myself further into a discomfort zone?
  4. Because my resume will grow stale if I don't do CS-related work for an extended period of time, I'm planning on attending grad school for computer science during my time overseas. This might either be through a university in Taiwan or online. In the case that I end up at a university in Taiwan, are there programs for English speakers, and is a CS grad school degree from a Taiwanese university worth much to US employers?
