Hey. I'm reading my textbook and I'm on lesson 13 which is about asking for directions. In this lesson the 過 particle comes up in the grammar points. Mostly talking about how it's utilized to describe "before" situations. I get the basic principle of that. However, I was confused from a couple of sample sentences on one of the pages. I'll write them out:
以前我們見過面,可是沒說過話.
So in this sentence above what I'm confused about is the use of 過 in between a two part word like 見面 or 說話. As you can see we get 見過面 and 說過話. Is there a reason why it's put between a two part word like that? Is it personal preference or does it matter? I just didn't see it explained, so I was confused.
And this sentence I'm just posting, because I either don't know or forget how 還 is utilized here:
見過, 上個月還見過他.
I know 還 can sometimes mean "still", but I can't remember the other common usage up to this point. I think it was explained in the previous book, but I can't remember where it was there. I feel like 還 might act similar to 就 here?
Any help would be appreciated. I took a photo of the page I'm working off of if you want to take a look.
Thanks in advance.
