example: I don't know if you've ever taken a religion class, but they believe they will be reincarnated
In English, this phrase is used when you want to explain something to someone, but you don't want to assume their knowledge, or ask for it. You simply tell them a fact, prefacing it with "I don't know if you" and then use end it with "but"... whatever you want to say.
I've been saying:
我不知道你有没有。。。可是。。。
but I have no idea if that's correct or even means what I want it to mean.
