What's a super useful word or phrase you wish you knew earlier?

One that Hong Kong / Taiwan people use all the time is 大陆 da4lu4 it means "mainland", mainland China. So Taiwan people won't say "China" when talking about the country they will say 大陆. Very confusing if you don't know that word!
