What's the best (free) course / resources you've found for learning mandarin?

I've started to learn mandarin, but have just been translating simple phrases and learning those (with Anki) and yellowbridge.com (which is a fab site) to learn the characters and pinyin, but I think it'd be better to follow something with a bit of structure. Does anyone know of any online courses / pdfs (preferably that work through from hsk1 -3/4) - what free resources do y'all use ?
