Useful supplemental studying alongside Heisig?

I've recently started Heisig's Remembering Traditional Hanzi Book One (lesson three, so very early). It's going well so far, but I can see myself getting slightly bored/frustrated later on with the monotony of it if that's the only Chinese learning I'm doing.

Is there anything useful I can do which would supplement Heisig well without interfering with character learning? I've got plenty of free time right now but I'm planning to just do one Heisig lesson per day (15ish characters). I was thinking grammar structures etc.

谢谢!

(Not looking for Heisig critiques).
