Most efficient way to improve my Chinese before going to/while being in China

Hello everyone!

So in about a month I will be going to China for a little over 1 month (August 22-September 24) to Zhengzhou. I have been going through the two Assimil volumes and expect to be finished with them or nearly so by the time I leave, and I plan on finishing Michel Thomas Chinese before I leave as well. Furthermore, after the 4th of August I should be able to devote myself to studying Chinese 100% of the time before my trip, and I'm debating on whether to study the HSK lists directly as a frequency list or anki the hell out of Mandarin Corner and Happy Chinese during that time. I have a decent number of Chinese speakers who would be willing to help me including my girlfriend. I know I won't become fluent or anything like that by September 24, but all the same do you guys have any recommendations on how I can prioritize my learning/maximize my time both before the trip and during the trip?
