Hello, I have been studying Chinese for 3 years now, I know about 1500 characters at the moment, and find that my reading and writing are above average for my level, speaking is average, and my comprehension is absolutely abysmal. I live in the US and am now visiting China and am discouraged to find myself completely unable to keep up with conversation as the natives speak ridiculously fast and even when I resort to youtube to watch shows such as peppa pig in mandarin intended for lower level audiences I find myself unable to keep up despite knowing 90% of the vocabulary used in the children's show. I have been trying hard listening to shows and music with lyrics, but I feel I am not catching on to anything and need a way to progressively move up to Chinese media comprehension. What is a step by step guide I could use to say go from a level 1 comprehension level to where I am now in regards to other topics in Mandarin. I am very passionate about learning the language and pour hours of my free time into learning, but i just feel worthless unable to comprehend basic day to day conversation. Help is greatly appreciated.
