Help understanding this paragraph

大家好！我正在读我的第一小说，这本书叫«移动迷宫1» （我说不定这本书对我很适合，但是我过了生日的礼物）。
Uff that was hard haha. So, I'm reading it along the English version to help me clarify ideas. But I just can't understand this part.

“看看这菜鸟，”一个沙哑的声音说，托马斯并没有看到说话的人，“住进新住所时我会给他好看。”几个孩子笑了。

This is giving me headache 住进新住所时我会给他好看

The original version:
“Look at the Greenbean,” a scratchy voice said; Thomas couldn’t see who it came from. “Gonna break his shuck neck checkin’ out the new digs.” Several boys laughed.

Can you help me? Did the translator changed the sense of the sentence?

P.S. do you agree one should scribble pinyin and meanings on a not academic related book? You know some say books are sacred and all that stuff.
