Anyone know of a good source for everyday life Chinese communication?

I plan to study Mandarin in the future, but now, I simply want the basics to communicate with people such as using a taxi, asking for directions, etc.. I did study Pinyin for 8 weeks so I have a very basic understandings. Thank you so much! XieXie!
