Chinese for Philosophers? Literature about Traditional Chinese characters?

I'm a philosophy student and currently I'm Reading ZhuangZi. I'm also interested into Buddhism, History, Food and Tea.
I'm wondering if there is any Introduction into Traditional Chinese with some sort of "Philosophical Sensitivity" meaning a Textbook or anything that tries to engage in questions of "Meaning"(Why?) at least sometimes, instead of avoiding critical questions. Historical insights are also welcome. It shouldn't be dry but rather inspiring. I'm less interested in daily chinese and pronounciation and a bit more interested in the characters, their meaning etc. and want to be able to read old chinese Texts. I'm not going to learn how to speak fluent soon, but I'll probably live (and teach english) or study in China or Vietnam soon. Any comments, inspirations, questions etc. are very welcome!
