What do you find to be the most difficult part of studying Chinese? How do you overcome it?

你好!

I was curious to hear from learners on this topic. Personally, I’ve only studied Mandarin very lightly, more out of curiosity than anything else. Although recently I’ve been more interested in it. I’ve been thinking about taking a 101 level class at my university when I next have the chance. The main thing stopping me is my fear of being unable to keep up with the characters.

I’ve only ever studied languages that have had more straightforward writing systems (German, French, Korean) and I wouldn’t even know how to study characters while remembering tones, stroke orders, sounds, etc.

I was hoping those with more experience on the topic could give me some pointers, and maybe recommend a method of study that’s worked for you. I would very much appreciate it. Thank you all!
