My friend suggested that I try to read Chinese "youtube comments" as an intermediary step before trying to read a book. I guess I have been reading texts of intermediary difficulty for a while: the Decipher app + HelloTalk moments.
But on the iPhone, Weibo (similar to Twitter, but Chinese) has an app called "Weibo intl." -- https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/weibo-intl/id1215210046?mt=8
It's fairly easy to sign up for, and has good features for language learners: you can copy the text to translate it elsewhere, or, it seems to use Google translate on the whole post when you long-press an item.
The first post I really found interesting was about a video that had recently gone viral on Youtube, about college students cutting in line. It had about 500 comments with a very strange mix of snark...
